The Institute for Supply Management-Chicago Inc.’s business barometer rose to 66.2 in October from 60.5 in the prior month, according to a report. A reading less than 50 signals contraction.
The median forecast of 48 economists surveyed by Bloomberg was 60. Estimates that ranged from 55 to 64.5.
A report next week may show the Tempe, Arizona-based Institute for Supply Management’s national factory index continued to indicate expansion, with a 56.4 reading in October after 56.6 the prior month, according to the Bloomberg survey median.
