AAA: Gasoline Prices Should Decline as Summer Ends

Monday, 16 September 2013 11:13 AM EDT

Now that the summer travel season has come to an end, AAA Mid-Atlantic says gasoline prices should start to decline due to weaker demand.

In its weekly report on gas prices Sunday, AAA says the national average price for a gallon of unleaded was $3.52, down from $3.57 a week ago.

The auto club wans that escalating violence in the Middle East, hurricanes or other disruptions could send prices back up.

In the District of Columbia, the average price for gas was $3.68, down from $3.72 a week ago. The average price in both Maryland and Delaware was $3.49.

In Virginia, the average gas price was lower at $3.30 per gallon, down from $3.35 a week ago.
