Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will start work this year on opening its own stores in Peru and has already registered its brand and company with regulators in the booming country, a company source said on Monday.
"Walmart is entering Peru this year ... it is coming no matter what, before the end of the year, maybe in October," the source said.
Company officials in the United States did not provide immediate comment.
In April, a Reuters report said Walmart was considering an expansion into Peru, where retail sales are on track to grow 20 percent this year.
