AT&T, Labor Union Reach Tentative Contract Deal

Tuesday, 15 December 2009 03:18 PM EST

AT&T Inc. has said that it came to a tentative agreement in wireline contract negotiations with the Communications Workers of America in AT&T's southeast region, which includes 30,000 employees.

The proposed deal will be sent to the district's members for a vote in the next few days, AT&T said. The southeast region's previous contract expired in August.

The proposed agreement includes pay and pension raises for each of the contract's three years.

The company said Monday that six of the seven bargaining units that represent AT&T's core wireline employees have ratified or have tentative agreements at this point, and that agreements pertain to almost 97 percent of the 120,000 employees that fall under AT&T's core wireline contracts.

The company still has not reached an agreement on a contract for its east region, which includes employees in Connecticut.

AT&T shares fell 5 cents in after-hours trading, after finishing regular trading up 4 cents at $28.05.
