Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has seen his fortune grow by more than $5 billion this month and he is the richest person in the world by nearly $50 billion.

According to the Forbes real-time list of the world's billionaires, Bezos is worth $141.9 billion. In a distant second is Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates at $92.9 billion. Investor Warren Buffett is third at $82.2 billion.

CNBC cited data that showed Bezos' wealth has grown by more than $5 billion in June.

According to Bloomberg, Bezos has gotten $43.7 billion richer this year.

Bezos also owns The Washington Post, which he purchased for $250 million in 2013. He is the owner of the largest house in Washington, D.C.

Bezos started Amazon in his garage by selling books in 1994.
