Ford Motor Co. has boosted the average sales price of its vehicles by more than $1,000 from a year earlier, said Erich Merkle, the company’s sales analyst.
Ford’s transaction prices are rising on demand for higher- trim versions of models such as the Explorer sport-utility vehicle and Focus compact, Merkle told reporters in Dearborn, Michigan.
Industrywide U.S. auto sales may run at a seasonally adjusted annualized rate in the mid-14 million range in February, including medium- and heavy-duty pickups, he said.
