One person was killed in an overnight fire at a processing unit of Chevron Corp.'s 330,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Pascagoula, Mississippi, according to a report on the WLOX News website.
"The Chevron Pascagoula refinery experienced a fire at one of its processing units at approximately 2 a.m. Friday morning," the report said, quoting a Chevron statement.
The report did not say whether production at the refinery had been affected.
Refinery officials were not immediately available for comment.
The Pascagoula refinery is Chevron's largest and most complex, which can process and treat low-grade heavier, sour, foreign crude oil.
