Tuesday, 03 September 2013 08:49 PM EDT

Best Buy Co. was awarded $7 million in damages by a federal jury in San Francisco over claims that HannStar Display Corp. conspired to to fix prices of flat panels used in computers and televisions sold by the electronics retailer.

The jury found that Best Buy failed to prove that another defendant, Toshiba Corp., the Japanese maker of products from televisions to steam turbines, engaged in price fixing.
