Guatemala has agreed to extradite convicted murderer Daniel Perez Rojas, a leader of the Zetas drug cartel, to Mexico,
reports the BBC.
In 2010, Rojas was convicted and jailed in Guatemala for 47 years for his role in the killing of rival gang members. A court found that he had played a role in the murder of 11 people in Zacapa, located in eastern Guatemala, in March 2008.
Rojas was one of many Mexican gang leaders who attempted to expand their activities to Guatemala in recent years. The Zacapa slayings were part of an intense battle the Zetas and a Guatemalan gang for control of drug-smuggling routes through that Central American nation.
