Israel's Ayalon: Iran Will Not Become Nuclear

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon tells Newsmax quite plainly that "Iran will not be nuclear."

Stopping short of offering details on how Iran might be stopped, Ayalon explained that Iran's ayatollahs can already dictate oil prices and if allowed to go nuclear, they will be able to act out with impunity.

Ayalon lauded bipartisan support for Israel in the United States, saying "for [Iran] and for [Israel], it is immaterial who will win the [U.S.] elections."

Referring to Israel's recent discovery of vast natural gas fields in its territorial waters, Ayalon believes "It will be very beneficial, not only for Israel, but for our allies, for Europe . . . With Europe allowing itself to diversify resources of energy, it's a win-win.

"It's very important for Cyprus and Greece which . . . would like to become the hub, or the terminal for the flow of natural gas to Europe."

Speaking to the Anti-Defamation League's National Executive Committee meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, Ayalon remarked that Israel was "not better off with dictators," and would like to see democracies across the Middle East.

"True democracies are not defined by elections," but by a "deep cultural change" that would entail the introduction of separation of powers, the rule of law, and the participation of civil society.

Ayalon says a sign of success would be "an ADL in Arab countries."
