LIGNET: Syria Crisis Leads Turkey and Israel to Mend Fences

Two years and ten months after the Israeli raid on the Turkish ship, the Mavi Marmara, that was about to burst through the Gaza blockade, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has apologized to Turkey for the loss of the nine lives in that incident and promised compensation for the families of the victims. The apology was accepted, leading to a restoration of diplomatic relations between Israel and Turkey. It will also likely inspire close cooperation between the two nations in dealing with the crisis in Syria that appears to be coming closer to an end.
