Mysterious footage emerged on YouTube that appears to show a large object traveling through the murky waters of London's Thames River.
"Something huge was under the water, then briefly surfaced," said Penn Plate, who shot the video near the O2 Arena, according to
The Telegraph. "Are there whales in the Thames? "Or is it some weird submarine?"
The video has been viewed over 1.1 million times.
Commenters speculated that the Loch Ness Monster had found its way to London.
Dolphins, porpoises, and seals have appeared in the Thames River because it has a growing number of fish, said a report by the
Zoological Society of London.
"We are not aware of anything that large and moving in the Thames," said Ian Tokelove of the
London Wildlife Trust, reports The Telegraph.
"We had a good look at the footage," said Tokelove. "But it isn't clear enough to make out what we are looking at."
Tokelove recommended that any visitor go see the Thames, because it contains over 100 species of fish and "seals are not uncommon."
"Given that size, I have no idea what that could be," said Jamie Oliver, curator at Sea Life London. "
