White House national security adviser John Bolton criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency on Wednesday for rejecting Israel’s request to investigate what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called a "secret atomic warehouse" in Tehran, reports the Washington Examiner.
"We've been very supportive of the Israeli effort and supportive of the IAEA taking new steps to follow up on it," Bolton told reporters during the briefing. "Our intelligence community has been reviewing the material that Israel extracted from Iran and… I must say it's extremely impressive."
Netanyahu last week offered evidence the Tehran facility existed, and said it has "as much as 300 tons of nuclear related equipment and material," doing so in an apparent effort to force European leaders to conclude that Iran is not complying with the 2015 nuclear agreement, a deal which President Donald Trump decided to exit.
Bolton also called Iran a 'rogue regime' that has been a threat throughout the Middle East, according to The Independent.
Bolton’s news conference follows an announcement by the Trump administration that the U.S. was ending a 1955 treaty with Iran, a decision made shortly after the International Court of Justice ruled that the U.S. WAS required to lift sanctions that limit the import of goods that are linked to the safety of civil aviation in Iran.
