Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich Friday said the candidacies of Democratic hopefuls Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders are decaying, and predicted that by the time the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries roll around there will be a "totally different Democratic race."

"Joe is a nice pleasant guy but if you watch him over, as I have for most of his career he's a little bit of a doofus," Gingrich told Fox News' Fox and Friends. "He doesn't quite get things right, and he can't quite do things right...well, that probably doesn't get you to the presidency."

Sanders, meanwhile, "has the biggest problem," said Gingrich.

"When he was the not-Hillary (Clinton), he was fresh, he was interesting," he added. "All the college students could get excited by him. Now he's just Bernie, and you know, being angry and yelling at people doesn't actually work very often in American politics."

Gingrich said he confesses he was wrong about Sen. Kamala Harris, because he had thought she'd come on strong, but her failure to perform has created a gap for Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

Also on Friday, Gingrich said he believes Israel has made the right decision to allow Rep. Rashida Tlaib to enter the country to visit her Palestinian grandmother on the West Bank after the country initially rejecting her and Rep. Ilhan Omar's entry.

Omar, however, is a Somalian immigrant, not Palestinian, so he thinks Israel's decision to keep her out, given her past statements, is "reasonable."
