The Iranian general who earlier this week threatened Israel with annihilation repeated his warnings Thursday and cautioned Israel against future attacks in Syria.
"We warn them [Zionists] that if a new war breaks out, it will result in their termination," Brig. Gen. Hossein Salami, deputy commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, said at a press conference in the Iranian city of Mashhad, according to the regime-linked Tasnim news agency.
A new war "will result in Israel's defeat within three days, in a way that they will not find enough graves to bury their dead," he added.
Israel has for years attempted to drive Iran out of Syria as Iranians continue to "pursue permanent military bases and economic deals in Syria, and probably want to maintain a network of Shia foreign fighters there, despite Israeli attacks on Iranian positions in Syria," Dan Coats, the U.S. director of national intelligence, told the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on Tuesday.
Tensions on the Israeli-Syrian border between IDF and Iranian Forces have been escalating over the past few weeks, and Salami earlier this week said Iran's strategy was to eventually wipe Israel "off the political global map."
