Dutch Train Eagles to Intercept Drones

The eagle has landed — on a drone.

The Dutch National Police, in a video posted on YouTube, show off the specially trained anti-drone raptor swooping onto its target and lifting it away.

Noting the security hazard posed by such smaller devices — including one that crashed onto the White House grounds last year — technologies are beginning to introduce "interceptor" drones, FoxNews.com reports, adding that Michigan Tech University has developed one that uses a net to disable small unmanned vehicles.

The U.S. military also is ramping up anti-drone efforts — including a laser weapon being developed by the Office of Naval Research, and a laser cannon that could destroy drones that was demonstrated by Boeing, FoxNews.com reports.
