Monday, 06 Oct 2014 06:31 AM

A Morocco-born Syria fighter, who is facing as many as five years in prison on terrorism charges in an Antwerp court, had access to secure areas in Belgium’s Doel nuclear power plant until late 2012, VTM Nieuws reported on Oct. 3, without saying how it obtained the information.

The 26-year-old worked for AIB-Vincotte Belgium, the technical-services company performing safety inspections of the Doel power plant before quitting his job at the end of 2012 and leaving for Syria, where he joined a band of Jihad fighters, according to VTM Nieuws.

The man had passed security screenings before being hired and his work had always been flawless, VTM Nieuws said, citing a written response from Vincotte.
