Celebrating the revival of American manufacturing under the Trump administration, conservative talk show host Rose Tennent says "blue collar workers are happy."
"That label 'Made in America' means so many things – but it means supporting Americans, other Americans supporting Americans," Tennent told Thursday's "America Talks Live."
Tennent is a spokeswoman for the Made in America trade show Oct. 3-6 in Indianapolis, Indiana, where products made in America, with American materials and labor, are showcased both business to business and business to consumer.
"It's very American, and you feel very patriotic and happy about it," Tennent said of buying something with the Made in America label. "These are our brothers and sisters, our neighbors, our coworkers."
While Newsmax TV host John Cardillo said buying American is something he does without worrying about a premium, Tennent said the movement toward buying American more is creating competition in the marketplace and helping to drive prices down.
"I'm hearing this story more and more from manufacturers around the country, because they are committed to buying here in this country, they're finding now that more and more people have the materials they need for the products they want to manufacture, so that the price is starting to get a little more competitive," Tennent told Cardillo.
Tennent painted an optimistic picture of American innovation and entrepreneurship, which will be on display for Americans as consumers and for inspiration for creating new businesses.
"This is to highlight your business, to highlight your stories, and then for the consumer to come to see what is made in America, but not just that, but to be inspired by that," she said.
"We have genius in us, all of us. We have the freedoms, still, in this country to pursue those passions and our destiny."
