KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukrainian officials are lashing out at a parody song targeting the country's former central bank chief.
Several Ukrainian officials and prominent politicians on Monday publicly condemned the song performed by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's former comedy show that made fun of a recent arson attack on the home of Valeria Gontareva.
Gontareva's house in Kyiv was firebombed last month in an attack that many said was retribution over leadership in nationalizing PrivatBank from its oligarch owner Ihor Kolomoisky. Last month, Gontareva was hit by a car in London, where she now lives.
Former comedian Zelenskiy had business dealings with Kolomoyskyi's media holdings during his acting career before he was elected in April this year. The arrival of Zelenskiy has stoked speculation that the decision to nationalize the bank could be reviewed.
