Mafia-Like Oath Required of al-Qaida Terrorists to bin Laden

Al-Qaida terrorists had to sign a Mafia-like oath of allegiance to the jihadi network and its mastermind, Osama bin Laden, The New York Post reports.

The jarring revelation came in documents submitted ahead of a trial that opened Tuesday against Abid Naseer, who's accused of plotting to bomb the New York City subway system and other high-impact targets.

"I accept your allegiance on behalf of Sheik Usama," prosecutors say a portion of the oath reads, the Post reports. "And to follow whomever Sheik Usama assigns to be my Amir on the jihad for the sake of God."

The Post also reports a court filing Monday reveals prosecutors want to submit eight documents at trial that reference "the call of Usama Bin Laden for jihad against the blasphemous government of Pakistan," discuss the late terror leader's family, and outline the inner workings of his personal cabinet.

The jury will be the first to see evidence seized during the 2011 Navy SEAL raid that left bin Laden dead.
