An El Paso, Texas man whose wife was killed in the mass shooting last weekend invited the public to attend her funeral.
Maggie Reckard, 63, died when alleged gunman Patrick Crusius opened fire at a Walmart. She was married to Antonio Basco for 22 years.
Basco says he has no other family.
The Perches Funeral Home in El Paso posted the announcement on its Facebook page Tuesday:
"Mr. Antonio Basco was Married for 22yrs to his wife Margie Reckard, He had no other family. He welcomes anyone to attend his Wife's services. On Friday August 16th, Perches Funeral Home Northeast on 4946 Hondo Pass from 5-9pm.
🙏❤️Let's show him & his Wife some El Paso Love❤️ #EPSTRONG"
Crusius, 21, confessed to the attack while officers were arresting him, killing 22 and injuring dozens more.
Basco told the Associated Press his wife was "the brains of the family."
"I mean you didn't even have to be there to talk to her," he said. "You could just look at how she was, how she acted, how she presented herself. She was an awesome lady."
