Report: 6 Turkish Soldiers Wounded in Bombing in Southeast

Tuesday, 10 November 2015 10:06 AM EST

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey's state-run news agency says Kurdish rebels have detonated a bomb on a road in southeast Turkey, wounding six soldiers inside an armored military vehicle.

The Anadolu Agency says the attack occurred Tuesday on a road near the mainly Kurdish town of Silvan, where authorities have declared a curfew as the security forces battle Kurdish militants.

The renewed fighting between the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, and Turkey's security forces have killed hundreds of people since July and derailed a fragile peace process.

Last week, the PKK ended a temporary unilateral cease-fire they a declared in a bid to reduce tensions ahead of Turkey's Nov. 1 election.

The government had rejected the cease-fire. It has vowed to keep up the battle until the PKK disarms and fighters withdraw from Turkey.
