2 Greek Men Convicted for Causing Danish Airport Evacuation

Thursday, 17 December 2015 10:11 AM EST

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — A Danish court has sentenced two Greek businessmen to three months each in prison — two of which are suspended — for making remarks that sparked an hour-long evacuation of Copenhagen's international airport terminal five days after the Paris attacks.

The Copenhagen City Court said Wednesday that the men, who can't be named under a court order, were guilty of causing "groundless alarm." They pleaded not guilty.

The court also barred the men, aged 33 and 65, from entering Denmark for six years. It wasn't immediately clear whether they would appeal.

A check-in counter employee heard them saying "there is a bomb in this bag" and one said the other was wanted for the Paris attacks, prompting the Nov. 18 evacuation, which caused delays to nearly 60 flights.
