Two teenage sisters and their mother were shot to death in northern Pakistan after a video was posted showing the sisters dancing in the rain,
the New York Daily News reported.
Five men gunned down Noor Basra, 15, Noor Sheza, 16, and their mother Noshehra on June 23 in the village of Chilas after a video of the two teenagers wearing traditional dress and enjoying a rain shower began circulating in Pakistan.
Police said the men barged into the house of retired police officer Rehmat Nabl and began firing, killing the three women. Four suspects have been arrested in the case,
the Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported.
Police say the crime was motivated by a home video made six months ago showing the teenagers dancing on lawn at their home. A relative is believed to have begun circulating it to friends in April.
Incensed by the video, which he regarded as an assault on his family’s honor, their stepbrother
Khutore decided to take revenge by arranging the girls’ killings, authorities say.
One year ago, four women were executed for singing and dancing with men in Kohistan, a village in northwestern Pakistan.
