President Donald Trump is not planning a full shutdown of the nation or of domestic travel at this time, despite ordering closures of the borders with Mexico and Canada, acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf said Sunday.

"The president and the vice president in the task force has been very aggressive and very forward-leaning in the (amount) of guidance and information to the American public," Wolf told Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures." "There has been a number of governors, New York and California that have taken the extra step and imposed additional strict measures."

There are also no immediate plans to enact restrictions on domestic travel, said Wolf, but the government does continue to be concerned about areas like New York, parts of California, and Washington state.

"We will continue to look at that and if we see we need to put targeted travel restrictions in place we will do that," said Wolf. "I will say there's no immediate plans as of right now for any widespread travel restrictions."

There will be some communities that will need to take "more aggressive measures" than others, said Wolf, adding that the federal government is working with them and encourages them to continue with their actions.

Communities in the midwest and south are not seeing the same numbers as New York, California, or Washington state, said Wolf, and don't need to take similar measures, but the numbers are being evaluated daily.

Meanwhile, on Friday, the Centers for Disease Control on Friday gave an order "to suspend the entry of anyone entering the country without proper documention", said Wolf, and that's an important step.

But it is important to keep trade coming across the borders, said Wolf, and to keep the supply chain and economy running.
