FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Authorities say strong winds have fueled a wildfire west of Fort Collins and forced the evacuation of more than 100 homes.
The blaze has already destroyed an outbuilding, a motorcycle and an all-terrain vehicle, but no injuries have been reported.
Larimer County Sheriff's spokesman John Schulz tells The Associated Press early Sunday that 110 homes had been ordered evacuated south of Buckhorn Canyon and east of Crystal Mountain Road. The rugged, hilly area is located about about 15 miles west of Fort Collins.
In addition, he says residents of about 225 homes in the nearby Redstone Canyon area may also have to leave. Centers for evacuees are being set up with the help of the Red Cross.
Shulz says 50 mph winds have helped expand the fire from 25 acres Saturday to about 1,000 acres early Sunday.
