White House Says It Is in Touch With Local Officials Ahead of Chauvin Trial Verdict

The White House said on Monday that it has been in touch with local officials ahead of a possible verdict in the trial of former Minneapolis policeman Derek Chauvin for his role in George Floyd's deadly arrest.

"We are in touch with mayors, governors, local authorities," White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said. "Our objective is to ensure there is space for peaceful protest."
