The White House this weekend will screen a new film whose stars and director are public critics of President Donald Trump.

"The Post" tells the story of how The Washington Post overcame political pressure to publish the Pentagon Papers, which exposed a government cover-up regarding the Vietnam War, in 1971.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Trump administration was granted a request to show the film at the White House and Camp David this weekend. Last month, actor Tom Hanks said he would not attend a White House screening of the movie if he was invited.

The Hollywood Reporter does not mention anything about the film's actors, a list that includes Hanks and Meryl Streep, or director Steven Spielberg attending the screenings.

Several Republican lawmakers will join Trump at Camp David this weekend as they put together plans for 2018.

Traditionally, the sitting president and his family are offered new releases for screening at the White House. "The Post" expands to 37 theaters Friday ahead of its Jan. 12 nationwide debut.
