A man working as a contractor for the White House was arrested Tuesday on an attempted murder charge, CBS News reports.

The Secret Service told CBS 29-year-old Martese Edwards of Suitland, Maryland, was the subject of a warrant issued out of Prince Georges County, Maryland.

He "was promptly arrested by Secret Service Uniformed Division Officers at a checkpoint outside of the White House complex when he was reporting to work as a contractor."

The Secret Service was notified of Edwards' warrant Monday night, but the warrant was filed in mid-May according to NBC News’ Geoff Bennett.

Edwards, who had a White House pass, was taken to a Metropolitan Police Department station for processing, according to the statement from the Secret Service. He worked as a private contractor, but his precise job or where he worked at the White House was not provided.

The warrant, according to NBC, was for attempted first-degree murder. Details of the charge, though, were not available.
