Westboro Baptist Church protesters have been "Rickrolled" by the Foo Fighters.

Rickrolling, the Internet meme in which a person posts a link that appears to be relevant to a topic being discussed but actually clicks through to a video of the 1987 Rick Astley song "Never Gonna Give You Up," has been around since about 2007.

On Friday, as members of the church carried protest signs outside the Sprint Center in Kansas City where Foo Fighters were set to perform, a pickup truck rolled up as the Astley song blared from its speakers.

Foo Fighters fans waiting to get into the show quickly realized the men on back of the truck singing along were actually the Foo Fighters and rushed the truck to get close-up video.

Bandleader Dave Grohl blew kisses toward the protesters while two of his bandmates held up signs reading "Keep it Clean" and "You Got Rick Roll’d (Again)."

Westboro, based in Topeka, Kansas, is known for protesting at the funerals of servicemen with signs such as "God Hates Fags." The church, which is made up of members of the extended family of the church's longtime leader, the late Rev. Fred Phelps, believes America's problems stem from God's judgment over its acceptance of homosexuality.

The protest and counterpunch were a second round for Westboro and the Foo Fighters. People reports that the band in 2011 showed up in a big-rig truck dressed as truckers and singing a song the anti-gay group very likely found highly offensive.
