Wall Street Backing Romney in a Big Way

By    |   Wednesday, 13 June 2012 10:20 AM EDT

Wall Street is betting on Mitt Romney and betting big: Financial-sector donors have given the Republican presidential nominee and the super PAC supporting him $37.1 million to $4.8 million for President Barack Obama’s campaign, according to Politico.

In a clear sign of Wall Street turning its back on Obama, Politico reported that 19 of the top donors backing Romney originally gave to Obama in 2008. They have already given Romney and his super PAC $4.8 million through April compared to the $213,700 they gave to Obama in 2008. None of the donors have given money to Obama’s campaign this year.

Anthony Scaramucci, a Manhattan hedge fund manager told Politico that finance donors are making the switch because “they feel that our country is in trouble — that our economy is in trouble.”

“There is so much dissatisfaction with the current president and his failed policies that we have found more and more people who are willing and wanting to get involved and who are eager to line up behind Gov. Romney,” Scaramucci told Politico.
