Sharpton Tells Cleveland to Stay Peaceful, Keep Fighting

Saturday, 30 May 2015 07:41 AM

The Rev. Al Sharpton told a packed Cleveland church that they must stay peaceful as they continue their fight for justice in the wake of police shootings.

Sharpton's appearance Friday night at the Olivet Institutional Baptist Church comes almost a week after the acquittal of a white patrolman charged in the deaths of two unarmed black motorists. The city now awaits a decision on criminal charges against a white officer in the fatal shooting of a black 12-year-old boy with a pellet gun.

Sharpton also told the crowd to get out and vote during the next election season, and to make their voices heard when the Republican national convention comes to town in 2016.

He said "This city is going to put police policy on the national political landscape."
