Federal Judge Shot During Robbery Attempt to Have Surgery

Friday, 06 Mar 2015 08:27 AM

A federal judge who was shot in the leg outside his Detroit home during an apparent robbery attempt is scheduled for surgery and expected to make a full recovery.

Anita Sevier gave the update Friday morning about her husband Judge Terrence G. Berg to WWJ-AM.

Police said they are seeking two young men in Thursday night's attack. They say they think Berg was shot in an attempted robbery, not because of his work as a judge, but police and federal agents are investigating.

President Barack Obama appointed him in 2012 and Berg's court is in Flint. Berg previously served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Born in Detroit in 1959, he also was chief of the high-tech crime unit in the Michigan Attorney General's Office.
