Arizona Senate Candidate: Porn Tweets Were Hacks

A Democratic candidate for an Arizona state Senate seat said that pornographic images posted on his Twitter account were the result of hacking.

"Darn those Russians!" candidate Steve Weichert said in a tweet in response to the hacking.

My apologies to anyone who may have received a rather lewd tweet from me this morning. My account was hacked. (Darn those Russians!)

The candidate was taking his daughters to school when he found out about the pornographic tweets, Weichert said to ABC15.

"All of a sudden, I just felt my phone blowing up. Somebody sent me a text saying, 'What are you doing?' and I'm like 'What? What are you talking about?'"

"It was a bad Monday," Weichert said.

Later, Weichert sent follow-up tweets, saying that he was joking about Russians being involved in the hack.

Honestly, I made a (bad) joke about it, but I don't think this was politically motivated at all - by Russians or my opponent.

He also compared the porn tweets to a scene from "I Love Lucy."
