A supporter of President Donald Trump attempted to disrupt a Broadway show that Robert De Niro directed, the New York Post reported.
At the end of a Saturday performance of “A Bronx Tale,” an audience member stood up during the cast took their final bows at the end of the show and displayed a “Keep America Great!” flag toward the audience, the report said.
De Niro has frequently criticized the president. On June 10, the actor and director used profanity directed at Trump during the Tony Awards.
Audience member Joe Del Vicario said the man was escorted out of the theater shortly after his display, the Post reported.
“It’s sad that people can’t enjoy a beautiful show and embrace its unifying message without politicizing it,” Del Vicario posted on Twitter.
Photos posted on Twitter showed that almost everyone in the crowd looking at the stage instead of the man, including the people right next to the man, the Post reported.
Brian Strumwasser, a hair department supervisor on the show, said the man disrespected the audience.
“Whoever the low life scum bag who thinks it’s OK to post their political views at a Broadway show and disrespect everyone who paid to watch a show that is all about inclusion was thankfully removed from the theater Saturday night,” Strumwasser wrote on Instagram.
