The New York Times editor deactivated her Twitter account Tuesday after being mocked for her reaction to President-elect Joe Biden arriving in the Washington, D.C., area a day before his inauguration.

Lauren Wolfe was ridiculed on social media after tweeting while seeing Biden's plane landing on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews in Prince George's County, Md., per Fox News.

"Biden landing at Joint Base Andrews now," Wolfe wrote, while watching CNN's coverage of Biden's plane landing on the tarmac. "I have chills."

It did not take long for some people to compare Wolfe to MSNBC host Chris Matthews, who said he had a "thrill up the leg" about President Barack Obama.

"Journos getting thrills up their legs again. This is what the next 4 years are gonna be like," Twitter personality Comfortably Smug tweeted.

"Female version of Chris Matthews," political activist Amy Kremer wrote.

Before leaving Twitter, Wolfe also criticized President Donald Trump's administration for apparently not providing a military plane to bring Biden from Delaware.

"The pettiness of the Trump admin not sending a military plane to bring him to D.C. as is tradition is mortifying," wrote Wolfe, who added, "Childish."

After being fact-checked by critics who cited reports the Biden team had been offered a military plane but chose to fly private, Wolfe deleted her tweet.

She later deactivated her account, but not before other critical comments were posted.

"It's okay, The NY Times will get through this," conservative commentator Stephen Miller tweeted.

"Prepare for four years of this from the media," the Media Research Center warned.
