Sen. Ted Cruz: NY Times Is 'Now About Propaganda'

(Fox News' "Fox & Friends")

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, ripped into The New York Times for reporting sexual misconduct allegations regarding Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and said it was part of a broader effort by the left to "intimidate the court."

Cruz's comments came Wednesday during an interview on Fox News' "Fox & Friends."

His remarks were sparked by The New York Times story detailing alleged sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh. The story centered on a new book by two Times reporters called: "The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation."

In the story, the Times noted an alleged incident involving Kavanaugh. But the newspaper later revised the story to note the woman in the alleged incident declined to be interviewed and friends say she did not even recall it.

Cruz said: "Here's the point . . . The New York Times knew what they were doing. It was fairly hysterical watching the reporters on TV blaming the editors.

"If you did this on a high school paper, if you were a freshman in high school and you submitted this story, you'd get an F."

He added: "The reason is they want to intimidate the court.

"Because it's not about facts, it's about crazy, left-wing ideology. That's where the Times is, that's where the (party's presidential) candidates are, and sadly, the Times is now about propaganda."
