President Donald Trump heaped praise on the state of Texas in a Wednesday morning tweet, saying it's "in great shape."

Trump was responding to a tweet posted by someone who shared a quote from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott about the fact that the state does not need help from the U.S. military to deal with protests happening nationwide.

Trump wrote, "I agree, unlike other states that are poorly run & managed, Texas is in great shape ... and the Southern Border Wall, which is going up FAST, puts it in even better position!"

Abbott's comments on the military, which Trump has offered to send to states to help quell protests following the killing of a black man last week by a white police officer, came during a Tuesday press conference. Trump is also urging several states, including New York, to activate their National Guards.

"We have tremendous police forces in Dallas, in Fort Worth, in the surrounding suburbs, across the entire state," Abbott said. "We have an abundance of resources that are being provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety."
