The race protests going on at America's colleges and universities are being carried out by "leftist, coddled kids," GOP candidate Ted Cruz complained Friday at the Presidential Family Forum in Iowa, and said political correctness is hindering the "truth."
“We’re seeing universities all across this country with leftist, coddled kids – usually with trust funds – protesting against horrible aggression, because the micro-aggression [of] ‘I heard a word that scared me,’ ” the Texas senator said,
reports The Des Moines Register. “What’s wrong with our universities?”
His comments came after Republican pollster Frank Luntz, the event's moderator, asked candidates how they would protect religious liberty while still preventing discrimination.
"Political correctness, the best answer to political correctness is speaking the truth," Cruz said.
Six other candidates, Ben Carson, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee, and Carly Fiorina also attended the folder, and several of them bashed political correctness after protesters interrupted the event,
reports The Hill.
The ideology of political correctness just bolsters liberal prerogatives, said Rubio, and Carson called it a form of "intimidation."
Friday's forum came at the end of a two-day trip through Iowa for Cruz, reports The Texas Tribune. The senator also held town halls earlier on Friday in Sioux City and Harlan, accompanied by Iowa Rep. Steve King, who endorsed Cruz for the presidential nomination on Monday.
