Staffers for Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine — considered a key swing vote in the Supreme Court fight over justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh — are reportedly are getting bombarded with "vulgar" phone calls.

Aides for Collins have provided details of the anti-Kavanaugh calls and voicemails to the senator's office in multiple reports and on social media, The Hill reported.

"We've had some very abusive callers," Steve Abbot, Collins's chief of staff, told an NBC affiliate in Maine. ". . . We've had some very vulgar calls and sort of harassing the staff."

Annie Clark, a spokeswoman for Collins, separately gave The New York Times copies of letters and voice mail messages being sent to the senator's offices that included threats.

"Staffers in our 6 Maine offices – and in our D.C. office – are receiving offensive, sometimes vulgar calls – harassing the staff," Clark tweeted Tuesday night.
