Stephen Moore, a former economic adviser to President Donald Trump, says the commander in chief is a charming man but has two opposing personas depending on whether he's in public or behind closed doors.

Speaking to college students at Northwestern University, Moore said as he got to know Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, he found him charming, charismatic and likeable, The Daily Northwestern reports.

Moore acknowledged that Trump is a "jerk" in public, but is a "wonderful" person behind closed doors, according to the newspaper.

Moore — a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at The Heritage Foundation, economics analyst for CNN and former Wall Street Journal editorial board member — made his comments during a speech titled, "Moore Money, Moore Prosperity."

He called Trump's election "the best night of my life," although he was initially skeptical of the president.

But Moore said Trump's tax reform with its lower corporate tax rates gives corporations an incentive to remain in the U.S. and offer higher wages and more jobs.

"The tax cut was the biggest thing to happen positively in the U.S. economy since the Reagan tax cuts in '81," Moore said, according to the newspaper.
