SNL, Comics Savage Obamacare Website

By    |   Monday, 28 October 2013 06:55 AM EDT

The Obamacare website's launch failure already has been thoroughly mocked by Republicans who oppose the Affordable Care Act.

"Saturday Night Live" joined in this weekend as the show's opening poked fun at the site's inability to allow people to even log in to shop for insurance.

Cast member Kate McKinnon portrayed Health and Human Services Sec. Kathleen Sebelius trying to help Americans use HealthCare.gov.

"Have you tried restarting your computer?" she says, in a nod to the famous first line of advice from tech support.

"Unfortunately the site was only designed to handle six users at a time," she said, noting that people can also go to a low-resolution version that looks like a free 1990s build-it-yourself design with animated flames and the words "U WANT DOCTR? YES/NO."

The Sebelius character also advises people to visit travel booking sites such as kayak.com for medical help.

"It's where you can purchase airline tickets to Canada and buy cheaper prescription drugs," she says.

President Barack Obama actually sold the website to the public beforehand by saying it would make shopping for health insurance as easy as buying plane tickets on kayak.com.
