By    |   Thursday, 24 October 2013 02:36 PM EDT

Two soldiers were shot near a Navy base in Tennessee Thursday afternoon. Neither is in critical condition, the Navy said.

The base, Naval Support Activity Midsouth in , was briefly placed on lockdown, but that order has been lifted, the Navy said.

The shooter was a Navy recruiter who had been relieved of duty, sources told The Associated Press.

The shooter is in custody, WMC-TV in Memphis reported.

The facility is home to human-resources operations and is headquarters to the Navy Personnel Command, Navy Recruiting Command, the Navy Manpower Analysis Center, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Finance Center, The AP reported.

This shooting comes less that a month after Aaron Alexis killed 12 in a rampage at the Navy Yard in Washington.
