One person is dead after a shooting on the campus of a suburban Philadelphia church, according to local police.

Emergency dispatchers in Montgomery County said gunfire was reported around 11:30 a.m. April 24, on the grounds of Keystone Fellowship Church, an evangelistic Bible-teaching church, in North Wales.

One person was taken to Abington Lansdale Hospital. The county coroner's office said it had been notified the person had died.

Police said Robert Braxton, a 27-year-old member of the church, was the shooting victim, according to NBC 10 Philadelphia

According to police, the church member involved in the shooting was also injured. The man is cooperating with police, and they have filed no charges against him. The man had a concealed carry permit, according to the police.

The shooting occurred during the 11 a.m. service at Keystone Fellowship in the church sanctuary, where hundreds of people, including children, were present, authorities said.

Keystone Fellowship Montgomeryville issued a statement saying officials were "saddened" by the shooting, identifying the victim as a man.

A guest speaker was set to speak at the 11 a.m. service, according to the church’s Facebook page. His topic was “serving in a country that is extremely hostile to the Christian faith.”

The Facebook post said, “Please note: for our guest’s safety, no photos or videotaping will be permitted.”

There is no known connection between the speaker and the shooting.
