Union Spokesman: Obama Questioning Border Agents' Integrity

By    |   Thursday, 26 Feb 2015 05:31 PM

President Barack Obama was disrespectful to Border Patrol agents in a recent MSBNC interview in which he said agents who don't follow his orders would suffer the consequences, said border agent union spokesman Shawn Moran.

On Thursday's "Your World with Neil Cavuto" on Fox News Channel, a clip was played of Obama answering a question about how he would ensure border or Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents don't deport people.

"The bottom line is that if somebody is working for ICE and there is a policy and they don't follow the policy, there are consequences to it," Obama answered. "In the U.S. military, when you get an order, you're expected to follow it. It doesn't mean everybody follows the order. If they don't, they've got a problem. And the same is going to be true with respect to the policies that we're putting forward."

Moran told Cavuto his agents are not yet enforcing his executive actions on immigration because they have been put on hold by a federal judge, but that they will do so if the courts rule to implement them.

"I know the president knows constitutional law, so he knows that the judge does have the authority to put this on hold, and they could strike it down if necessary," Moran said. "It's a real slap in the face to border patrol agents."

Obama is questioning the agents' integrity, he said. "We follow orders and for the president to imply otherwise is uncalled for."

Moran said Obama further disrespected agents by referring to them as "border control" when their proper title is Border Patrol.

"He needs to get the title right first and not jump the gun, so to speak, as to what is going to happen," he said.
