SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The National Weather Service says parts of San Francisco have received a light dusting of snow.
Meteorologist Mark Strobin says the city's Twin Peaks neighborhood and other areas over 400 feet in elevation had a small amount of snow fall late Friday and early Saturday.
He says there was just rain in the near sea level downtown area and that the snow that did fall higher up disappeared quickly.
The city last saw snow on the ground in 1976, when an inch fell.
Strobin says it's still too early tell how this event will be recorded in the official weather books.
The storm that brought the snow dumped more than 2 feet of snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
