Joan Rivers Slams Obama's Tax Policies

By    |   Tuesday, 12 June 2012 01:45 PM EDT

Joan Rivers hates politics, the nation's capital, and particulaly President Barack Obama's tax policies.

While in Washington, D.C. to promote her new book, "I Hate Everyone, Starting with Me," she opened up to Politico.

"Washington will probably be the one place that nobody buys the book and that's why I hate Washington," the 79-year-old "Fashion Police" star quipped.

Rivers has parted with throngs of celebrities who are in the president's corner by heartily slamming Obama's tax-the-rich rhetoric.

"I'm also being chastised because I work 18 hours a day and make a living," Rivers revealed to the political website.

In addition, the comedienne took on the language that has been used by the Occupy Wall Street movement.

"I feel that I'm part of the 2 percent and I'm really not interested in a woman who has 95 children and has 95 husbands," he twice-married mother-of-one said. "I think the Chinese have it right: You each have one child, two children and you take care of them," she said.

Directly referencing the president's policies, Rivers sounded conservative. "If I work very hard, I should be able to gather the fruits of my labor," she said.

"If you're not about to work, you should get minimal and leave me alone. I think if you don't wear a helmet and you fall off your bike, you pay for the doctor."

Notwithstanding her sharp critique of campaigning with class envy, Rivers  said that she has no interest in "making a political statement." In fact politics is on the list of the things she hates.

"They're all a bunch of garbage," Rivers said. "I'm definitely in favor of a monarchy because they're there, they look good, and they always have good gift shops when you leave the palace. ... I feel that it's just all about party affiliation and it's all about voting the way your party wants to vote and it's not at all about what we should be about."
