Priebus: Walker Should Have Speaking Spot at Convention

By    |   Thursday, 07 June 2012 07:54 AM EDT

The Republican Party’s newest superstar, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, has just about guaranteed himself a prime time spot at the GOP National Convention, party chairman Reince Priebus says.

Walker, who handily beat off a recall challenge on Tuesday, “is in the category of bright, shining stars with big ideas” who need to be showcased at the Tampa convention, Priebus told The Hill.

Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, called himself a “pretty good advocate” for promoting the case of his fellow Wisconsinite.

“I’m going to do what’s best for winning the presidency, and having a convention with bold leaders and great ideas is something that I intend to do,” he said.

The four-day convention opens in Tampa on August 27.
