President Donald Trump will not hold a press briefing on Sunday, the White House announced, marking the second day in a row during the Easter holiday weekend that he will not be doing so, The Hill reported.
The president has appeared before the press almost every day during the pandemic.
In his last briefing on Friday, Trump told reporters concerning when to start reopening the country, that “I don’t know that I’ve had a bigger decision. But I’m going to surround myself with the greatest minds.”
Last Sunday, the White House also announced there would be no press conference. However, in the end there was one, as Trump decided he wanted to give an update to the public.
Some of those who disapprove of the president have criticized the media for continuing to show the press briefings live, claiming that they are only an attempt by Trump to spread false and misleading information that is beneficial to his own image.
In New York, the epicenter of the pandemic, Governor Andrew Cuomo held a press briefing on both Saturday and Sunday, despite the holiday weekend, as he has done every day.
