Republicans say Fox News is the most credible news source, with the Wall Street Journal coming in second, according to a Morning Consult poll.

Seventy-three percent of Republicans polled said Fox was either very credible of somewhat credible. And the Wall Street Journal was rated as credible by 64 percent of those polled.

The survey shows a split among party lines on how the public views the media.

Here is how the poll breaks down:

  • 79 percent of Democrats rate ABC and CBS as the most credible media outlets. NBC was a close second with 78 percent.
  • The results for CNN were mixed. Only 51 percent of Republicans found the network credible compared to 77 percent of the Democrats.
  • ABC (59 percent); CBS (58 percent) and NBC (57 percent) came in right behind the Fox News and WSJ as credible media outlets for Republicans.
  • Only 52 percent of Republicans found The New York Times credible compared to 76 percent of Democrats.
  • 59 percent of Democrats said National Public Radio was credible while NPR was rated credible by just 46 percent of Republicans.
  • Only 45 percent of Democrats found Fox News credible.
